About me

My name is Mary and photography has always been a passion of mine.  Becoming a mom in 2008 has brought so many beautiful, funny, messy, and fleeting moments.  I wanted to learn to use my camera to capture as many of those moments as possible.  Over the last couple of years, that's just what I've done.  I've practiced and studied and studied and practiced...and believe me, I have plenty of practicing and studying to go before I count myself in the ranks of the photographers I respect. I don't plan on photography being a career for me (I'm an occupational therapist in my real life).  I just want to continue practicing my love of photography and supporting this costly and highly addictive habit : )

Why Polebilly Photography?  Most works of art are inspired by a muse of some sort, right?  Well, my muse is a Polebilly.  When I was pregnant with my daughter, my husband Peter and I decided to not find out if we were having a boy or girl.  Somewhere along the way we starting referring to our unborn bean as Zippy the Polebilly.  I won't get into the Zippy part-let's just say I had some crazy dreams when I was pregnant.  The Polebilly part comes from the fact that I'm a born and bred WV hillbilly and Peter is, well, he was born and bred in Poland.  Our little girl is 3 now and I've learned so much about the art of photography thanks to her.  It's been amazing to be able to capture so many of her sweet moments that my mommy brain would have likely forgotten by now.  Moments kind of like this one:
